Delphine
A new project I would like to share with you
It’s been a minute. For a while I wasn’t writing at all, and then I was writing a lot but in private, and now I’m busy with other things. I hope you are doing as ok as possible under the increasing strain of existing in this world. I hope you taking care of yourself and your community and thinking hard about what can be done in the next few years. This isn’t what I came here to tell you, but I hope it all the same and I want you to know that.
What I actually came to share is my new shop–Delphine. It’s a collection of vintage and handmade homewares, for the most part, with a couple of other things sprinkled here and there. I just made it live yesterday after several months of thinking about and working on it. I’m really proud of it and I would love for you to take a look if you have a moment, and to share it with someone you think may like it.
Having my own shop is something that makes perfect sense to me. I’ve worked in shops since I was 16 and retail is something I can do in my sleep. I love making things and I love objects and I love shopping (though I don’t think it’s very fashionable to admit it…), so this shop ownership seems like a convergence of all these things. Building it up will be slow and arduous, but I’m ready to be patient.
It’s not the first time I thought about doing it, and I have even tried to make it happen once or twice, but this is the furthest I’ve ever gotten and the calmest and most collected I’ve ever felt about it. Maybe that’s my age, but I think it’s also because I feel more prepared and have more experience under my belt.
Long story short: I opened a shop and filled it with things that I love. Please visit it and share it and let me know what you think.
